Organ-on-chip technology validated to verify the effect of a drug against glioblastoma.

We are delighted to announce the publication of our article “Tetralol derivative NNC-55-0396 targets hypoxic cells in the glioblastoma microenvironment: an organ-on-chip approach” in the journal Cell Death and Disease. This article was carried out by the members of our group, Clara Bayona Royo, Sara Oliván García, Teodora Ranđelović and ignacio Ochoa Garrido, in collaboration with the group Señalización Celular por Calcio from the Institut de Recerca Biomèdica de Lleida Fundació Dr. Pifarré – IRBLLEIDA and Universitat de Lleida

It validates an organ-on-chip technology to recreate glioblastoma, the most aggressive primary brain tumour, and test a drug against this tumour. The researchers found that the drug had a preferential effect on cells in the central zone of the tumour, which are known for their adaptability to severe conditions and resistance to other drugs.
