Vira Sharko is a researcher from the IISA (Institute for Health Research of Aragon) who recently joined the TME Lab as part of the Moore4Medical project, to assist in the development of a tumour migration model on microfluidic devices.

She received a Biology Degree from the University of Sevilla in 2019, whereby she discovered her vocation for research through the development of her thesis in cancer immunotherapy. Shortly afterwards, she decided to specialize in the bioengineering field through a Master Degree in Biotechnology and Bioengineering (Elche, Alicante). There she got the opportunity to learn about the cellular reprogramming strategies, pursuing the differentiation of human fibroblasts into sensory neurons as part of her master thesis.

In 2020 she started an internship at BeOnChip, an organ-on-chip company based in Zaragoza, where she worked towards the development of a gut model exposed to controlled flow conditions. Throughout this experience, she gained confidence in the microfluidics field and made contact with her current group.
