PhD in Genetic and Development by the University of Zaragoza. He joined CIBER-BBN in late 2012, to work as a researcher of the NanoBioCel Group at the UPV/EHU and currently has moved to work at the Instituto de Investigación en Ingeniería de Aragón (I3A).

He has previously worked on stem cell microencapsulation involving: optimization of stem cell microencapsulation techniques, study of new materials for stem cell microencapsulation and preclinical translation of microencapsulated stem cells among others. He has postdoctoral  experience on gene therapy, neurodegenerative diseases,  DNA vaccines, pancreatic islet isolation, differentiation of embryonic stem cells into insulin producing cell and kidney capsule transplantation on induced diabetic mice.
